I want to warmly congratulate you on being graduates of the first Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in Cyprus.

I would like to thank the Cyprus Inno team, Burak, Steven, Alexia, and Julia for working with the Embassy to design and implement this program.

Last spring, when we heard that Cyprus was selected to host an Academy for Women Entrepreneurs, we were excited to offer women entrepreneurs the opportunity to build and scale their ventures.  Cyprus is now one of over 80 countries implementing this program, and our hope is to turn it into annual training which will provide Cypriot women from across the island the chance to connect, work together, and grow their networks and businesses.

The United States has dedicated over $350 million to advance women’s entrepreneurship around the globe, because we know that the participation and contributions of women are essential components of every economy, and an integral factor in global peace and stability.  We envision a world in which all women and girls can meaningfully contribute to economic growth and equally benefit from global prosperity.

From projects helping people with disabilities, to promoting women’s health and wellbeing, from supporting organic products to raising sustainability and promoting local craftmanship, your ventures showcase your dedication, passion, and entrepreneurial spirit. A common thread I see in your ventures is wanting to help your community and peers.

Here at the Academy, you have learned how to create a business plan, how to manage accounts and the importance of using an innovative approach to solve problems. Building on the skills you have gained in the Academy, you also join this invaluable support network of capable, driven entrepreneurs. Moving forward, I hope all of you will stay engaged with each other and continue to tap into this network for ideas, support, and partnership in your business ventures in Cyprus.

I want to congratulate everyone for completing this program.  I recognize that this is the beginning of an exciting journey as you build or improve your venture, and I would like to wish you all the best as you move forward in following your dreams.
