Location: U.S. Embassy Nicosia on Metochiou and Ploutarchou Street, Nicosia.
Event: A demonstration is expected Saturday, October 10, at the U.S. Embassy Nicosia at 4:30 p.m. There are expected to be 50-100 protestors that will gather outside the Ministry of Interior and walk towards the Embassy. The demonstration is expected to be peaceful and last no longer than an hour. Cyprus National Police officers will be present.
U.S. citizens are advised to avoid the area during the late afternoon and evening hours on October 10. All citizens should exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings, particularly around large crowds or gatherings. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can become confrontational and possibly escalate into violence with little or no warning. The U.S. Embassy will continue to monitor the situation and will send an update if new information arises.
Note: The U.S. Embassy will be closed on Monday, October 12 in observance of Columbus Day.
