End of Year Basketball Tournament Unites Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Youth

Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot youth from across the island came together to participate in PeacePlayers-Cyprus’ end of year tournament in Agros. The tournament was a culmination of basketball and life skill activities implemented throughout the winter and spring, which has been supported by by BSP since 2009,

Bicommunal Training in Conflict Mitigation and Minority Rights

The NGO KISA – Action for Equality, Support, Antiracism, in cooperation with the Turkish Cypriot Human Rights Foundation, organized a workshop at the Cyprus Community Media Centre in the UN-patrolled buffer zone, which was devoted to peace building and human, gender, and minority rights. This included representatives of various ethnic and religious groups living in both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.

6th International Children’s Film Festival of Cyprus Screens Bicommunal Collaboration

The Bicommunal Support Program through a a series of small grants throughout the years, granted the bicommunal International Children’s Film Festival of Cyprus to provide educating children through the art of cinema, and drawing their attention to certain topics regarding family, society and the world, The film festival had encouraged island-wide collaboration among Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot children, parents, and educators.

Memory of Daniel Pearl Honored by Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot Jazz Musicians

In honor of the memory and legacy of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped and murdered by violent extremists in Karachi, Pakistan in 2002, Embassy Nicosia has been committed to honoring Pearl’s memory and supporting Daniel Pear World Music Days has featured Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot jazz musicians who were accompanied by the Chris Byars and Ari Roland Sextet from NYC.
