Location: Cyprus

Event:  The U.S. Embassy in Nicosia is closely monitoring developments in Israel and the Middle East.  Some of these have led to protests or large gatherings throughout the world, including Cyprus.  As demonstrations can be unpredictable,  U.S. citizens in Cyprus are advised to avoid large crowds and protests.

All U.S. citizens traveling abroad should enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive ongoing updates about emergency situations where they travel.  Enroll now at step.state.gov

Any U.S. citizens needing assistance to obtain travel documents in Cyprus should visit https://cy.usembassy.gov/passports/ to obtain information about forms and information on how to schedule an appointment.

The Embassy will continue to review the situation and provide additional information as needed.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid large crowds and protests.
  • Seek alternate routes around road closings.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Contact the police by dialing 112 if you are in immediate danger.
