What Service Do You Require?
Apply for Citizenship
U.S. Citizenship
If you meet certain requirements, you may become a U.S. citizen either at birth or after birth.
To become a citizen at birth, you must:
Have been born in the United States or certain territories or outlying possessions of the United States, which are subject to the jurisdiction of the United States; OR
Have a parent or parents who were citizens at the time of your birth (if you were born abroad) and meet other requirements.
To become a citizen after birth, you must:
Apply for “derived” or “acquired” citizenship through parents;
Apply for naturalization.
Renounce Citizenship
The consular section of the U.S. Embassy in Nicosia has resumed processing renunciation cases for U.S. citizens who reside in Cyprus. Cases will be processed in a first come, first served basis. If you are a legal representative for a U.S. citizen residing in Cyprus who is looking to renounce his/her U.S. citizenship, please send an email to ACSNicosia@state.gov with the following information:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- U.S. passport number (if any)
- Proof of residency in Cyprus
